Child Care Advocates Speak with Congresswoman Ashley Hinson About Community Needs.

Several Decorah residents who have been active in promoting child care locally got a chance to meet Friday morning with Eastern Iowa congresswoman Ashley Hinson to discuss the issues facing child care.

The meeting came as local volunteers for Sunflower Child Care Center are working on raising the $8.5 million needed to build a new facility off Montgomery Street in Decorah. Winneshiek County Development Incorporated Executive Director Stephanie Fromm says the local group has raised $6.5 million in contributions to the project and wants to raise another $2 million.

Hinson says she's working now on ways to reduce the impact inflation has been having on the nation's economy. She says driving down costs--especially fuel costs--would help many people. She says the country needs an energy strategy that reduces inflation.
